November 2003

We'd heard about Becci and her supercharged TR7 but we wanted to find out a bit more about this pair.... so we tracked them down and are delighted to bring you this article about Becci and 'HOT 1 SIN'!

Becci & Nicki

I rescued Nicki from a dealer when I was just seventeen. At the time, she was a two-litre, fairly standard 7, save for the alloy wheels, and azure blue paint job. Her previous owner had traded her in for a Porsche of all things. I couldn't insure her until I was eighteen, so I spent the three months leading up to my birthday polishing her and driving her in and out of the garage. (Altogether now - "Aaaah!")

Becci, Nicki & a Cobra

Over the years, Nicki has 'evolved' somewhat, from her original state. I had her bodywork tidied up back in 1991, along with a cream leather interior, split-rim alloys and a 3.0 litre Rover V8 conversion. In the same year, she won the Working Class Concours at the TR Register International Weekend. Following a blown head-gasket a few years later (any excuse), I upgraded the engine to a 4.6 litre Rover V8, with Webber carbs.

Eventually becoming a little bored with this set-up, I had a blower fitted last year, which currently gives us somewhere in the region of 370bhp.

Don't stannd too close or it'll get ya!

Earlier this year, the wonderful snake-like 'life-time guarentee' stainless exhaust system finally disintegrated completely, giving me the opportunity to go totally wild with the big side pipes. These were an absolute nightmare to fit, and are too low in their present location, causing major problems on any road cursed with speed bumps. To rectify this, I plan to modify the manifolds, having four branch-pipes coming from the front wings, thus enabling me to raise the side-pipes, not to mention looking completely outrageous!

Check out the exhausts!

Looking to the future, I have even bigger plans for what has to be 'the most subtle TR7 in the world - not'! I'm afraid boys, that size does matter, and 4.6 litres just isn't enough! I'm looking at the possibility of installing a big Chevy V8, and a monster supercharger, which will give us an insane 650+bhp; more if we go for nitrous as well. Unfortunately, Nicki's bodywork is now somewhat tired, and just isn't up to her present power output, let alone the crazy modifications, so before I do anything, I need to find her a new bodyshell, which can be strengthened to suit. If anyone out there can help with a rust-free shell, please get in touch!

The way it should be!

Thanks to Becci for taking the time to write this for us and for all the pics!
