Introduction to OYD 50V

I purchased OYD 50V when my wife fell in love with it at our local garage. The garage owner was the previous owner, and had restored it over a six year period when he had time. It had then sat at the back of his workshop for a couple of years before he decided to sell it.

[More:]

We ran the car for a few years and it was totally reliable. We moved house to Devon from Bristol and since then have uprated the suspension, fitted a new hood, had a new clutch, flywheel, unleaded cylinder head (when the timing chain failed) and a host of smaller items.

It was taken off the road for the Winter 2001/02, and was not put back on(due to time rather than anything else). In 2004, I decided to sort the car out, so took it for an MOT where it failed on corroded sills and a number of other smaller (mainly electrical) things. I decided to sort the car out and get it on the road for the following summer. It had the sills and rear wheel arches replaced and various other work including yet another cylinder head, as the replacement I got a few years previously was overmachined, and was not seating properly (wondered why it would get hot!). It was MOT`d and on the road for summer 2005. This winter, I am tackling the rest of the bodywork including two new front wings, fitting a stainless exhaust, refurbishing/replacing the wheels, replacing the carpet and possibly (time permitting) changing the interior to something a bit different (bit vague I know, but I have not decided exactly what yet).
New sills and rear arches

I will add more details as time permits.

Looking good. I think that the tartan/check interiors are the only thing that really dates the design now. My latest DHC has a very tasteful leather re-trim. Can mail you pics if it would help give you some ideas. Otherwise just enjoy the car :)
