I'm back

Well … it’s been a while since my last post…:oops:

[More:]

Time to do some work on the car. The car is completely disassembled. Chassis is in the yard and everything else is in the basement.
Took the engine apart, gearbox,…everything.

Engine first, it has been rebuilt aprox. 10-15k km ago so the bearings look great, there was 2 cm of oil sludge in the sump, head gasket was good, , chain tensioner and guides have no marks on it. The oil pump is new, pistons , piston rings , all bearig shells… Took some time to weigh the engine parts, since there are always questions on the forum about the engine weight or the weight of the parts.
Engine block(bare)= 49.4kg
Head (8v, with valve guides)= 10kg
Oil sump = 3.1kg
Pistons,piston rings,Gudgeon Pin’s = 2.9kg
valves, springs and main bearing’s = 1.9kg
oil pump, filter,Oil Transfer Housing = 1.9kg
conrods, big end bearing’s, jackshaft = 7.6kg
flywheel = 9.8 kg
starter( the old and heavy model) =8.2 kg 88|
camshaft= 2.1
rear engine plate = 4.3 kg
bellhousing(4 speed)=5.1 kg
Clutch =6.3
4 speed gearbox: housing = 8.4 kg
internals = 14 kg

Total =135 kg (without the carbs, intake and exhaust manifolds, carbs, alternator,bolts, gaskets,.. so we are in a ballpark of 150 kg (engine and transmision))

So everything was cleaned up in petrol. i have to order new gaskets and bolts ,and start the reassembly.
Didnt make any pictures of the cleaning of the parts , you all know how a dirty TR7 engine looks like and i didnt want to mess up my digital camera with dirty hands.
there will be plenty of pictures later.
