I know, this is a TR7/8 blog - but I have to tell you about my latest aquisition. It *is* powered by a Rover SD1 V8 and it is rear wheel drive of course, but otherwise a very different car...

A V8 engined Reliant Scimitar SE5a!
Engine: Rebuilt Rover SD1 3528cc V8, mild tune (Hurricane cam, Holley 390 carb, 10.5:1 pistons) 208 BHP on rolling road. Oil cooler, extended radiator and Kenlowe fan fitted.
Gearbox: Rover R380 as fitted to Morgan Plus 8 and MG RV8
Suspension: AVO adjustables on all corners, Polybushes on front arms.
Body Mods: Bumpers removed, door handles removed, Manta rear lights (driver's door solenoid operated, rear hatch on cable release)
Bits and Bobs: Built between 1988 and 2000, reconditioned chassis (Scimpart), reconditioned back axle (Will Sparrow), heavy-duty SS petrol tank (NOT the thin ones that are common-place), Watanabe 15" minilite style alloys with 205/65/15 Toyo tyres, Cobra front seats (rear seats and door cards covered to match), rebuilt with more new twiddly bits than you can shake a stick at (various joints and brake parts, wiring loom etc.)
A couple of pics as a little 'taster'. More to follow after I pick her up at the weekend.
