Bushes

I still wasnt happy with the handling of the car, I know it was on standard suspension, but it just didn't feel right. So on went a set of Superpro Bushes from Neil Revington. These arent cheap, I replaced subframe, control arm, antiroll bar, rear trailing arms and tie rod bushes, these come to about £200, I was unsure whether to get these, over S&S's bushes but i bit the bullet and boy am I glad i did. The differance is amazing, considering the bushes on the car were only a year old. It was a different car, smooth, responsive, and I will recommend them to anyone, not just once, or twice, but again and again :D

[More:]

For people information these are the bushes and prices at RRP:

Front track control arm to subframe bushes - SPF0139K - a kit to do the bushes (4 'half' bushes and 2 stainless steel sleeves) on both arms £27.53

Antiroll bar to track control arm bushes - SPF0518K - a kit of 4 bushes £18.38

Antiroll bar to subframe - SPF0111K - a kit of 2 bushes £12.95

Rear Trailing arm - lower - SPF0070K - A kit of 4 bushes and 4 sleeves £72.19 - OUCH£££ theses are also availible as SPF0070-80K (for tuned V8's) and SPF 0070-90K (for race only - very hard - like to see how hard these are to put in!)

Rear trailing arms upper (tie rods) SPF0072K - a kit of two bushes and two sleeves, so two kits needed per car - total £56.81

front subframe - a kit to do the front of the subframe - SPF2466K - £63.85

rear subframe - a kit to do the rear of the subframe - SPF2468K - £40.33

total = £292.04 - shocking  maybe worth doing subframe first (£100) front suspension next (almost £100) and rear last (the last £100)

I could point out that its funny how superflex bushes have the same part number, and the same bushes come to £174 plus postage, they arent in kit form, you need to order the right number of bushes, from http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ but you dont get the same level of after sale support and TR expertise that Neil can offer, take your pick.

Hi Tom. Nice to see the blog. Presumably you fitted the bushes yourself? How long did it take and did you come accross any problems??

It took a long afternoon, problems, the antiroll bar requires a nice heave to get it back in its hole in the track control arm, as it's obviously spring loaded.

The rear bushes are a right pain to press in, probably best to take the arms off the car hacksaw the shoulders off the old bushes to press them out with a vice and a couple of sockets from your 1/2 drive set. Then take the arms and tie rods down the garage for them to press in, avoids costly damage to the bushes.

All in all not a hard job, the anti roll bar can be done as I proved with one person, but two would be handy.

Maybe being an afternoon job it could be a TR international demonstration... There's an idea :)
